Mark Wilson

EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas.  CPCU Designation.

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE: Growing up in Portland, Mark entered the insurance business after graduation from college in 2004 as a claims analyst for Allied Insurance.  Joining an independent agency in 2005 as a commercial lines account executive, he transitioned through various positions including sales, operations, and management.  After founding Obsidian Insurance in 2018, Mark’s focus is now on serving select clients throughout the Pacific Northwest.  A favorite part of his job is the opportunity to observe a wide variety of his clients’ businesses in multiple industries while working to become their insurance advisor.  Mark is dedicated to our industry and wants to support our local insurance marketplace through the management and objectives of the Surplus Line Association of Oregon.  SLAOR Board Member from 2016 to 2019.  SLAOR President in 2019.  SLI-PAC Board Member from 2015 to present.

M'Lissa Rutherford

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE:
 I started my insurance career working personal lines for an Allstate agent in Arizona in 1989.  Moved to Portland in 1990 and went to work for Crump as a receptionist.  Worked up the ladder and was promoted to broker in 2007 and then Vice President in 2013.  In 2022, after 32 years at CRC, I left and accepted a new position with XPT Specialty.  I work commercial casualty with the primary focus on contractors.  I have 2 beautiful daughters and my wonderful husband of 27 years.

Michelle Christian

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE:
  I am a native Oregonian and a graduate of Portland State University with a degree in Foreign Languages.  I started my insurance career in 1997 with Alexander Morford & Woo, now Brown & Riding Insurance Services.  In December of 2020 I decided to branch out and experience the industry from a retailer’s perspective at Woodruff Sawyer.  I am fortunate to have worked with many talented people who have contributed to my professional growth.  I would describe myself as a technician and claims made specialist who is passionate about professional collaboration and finding the best possible options for my clients.  I enjoy spending time with my family, especially with my two daughters who encourage me to be a better person with each day.

Jim Heisler

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE: Founder and President of Indemnity Excess & Surplus Agency Inc. (est. 1992).  Sold Indemnity Excess & Surplus to JTJK Inc in 2018 and has been employed as Producer/Consultant since that time.  Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  Jim started in the insurance business in 1982.  I'm still active as an insurance broker and I continue to maintain and underwrite a significant book of business.  I feel the day-to-day risk placement and assessment keeps me sharp and attuned to the changing market, and the needs of our retail partners.  I love what I do and I am inspired by people who strive for excellence.  This is ultimately what makes us successful as people.  Respect and dedication are the core precepts of our company and the reason we are in business.  These core values are the basis of every Monday morning staff meeting in our office.  Our weekly roundtable dialogue centers on how we ultimately incorporate these core beliefs into our business model.  It has been my honor to serve the retail insurance community in the Western United States since 1982.  SLAOR Board Member in 2012-2014 and 2016-2018.  SLAOR President in 2014 and 2018.  SLAOR Finance Committee member from  2013 to present and Legislative Committee member from 2015 to present.

Jenny Crane

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE: Jenny began her insurance carrier in 1989 working for a retail insurance agency.  For the next fifteen years, she worked for three retail agencies in Iowa and Minnesota focusing on Personal & Commercial, Transportation, and Office Management.  In 2004, Jenny joined McFall General Agency as a Commercial Lines Underwriter.  In 2006, she took on the position of Underwriting Manager.  In November 2007, McFall was purchased by Hull & Company and Jenny became Senior Vice President/PCL of the Portland, OR and Tacoma, WA offices.  In May 2022, Jenny joined XPT Partners.  She has been a licensed producer since 1989 and obtained her OR Surplus Lines license in 2006.  SLAOR Board Member from 2011-13 and 2016-18 and past member of the Education Committee.    

CURRENT POSITION: Senior Vice President/Pacific NW Regional Manager with XPT Specialty.
